Player Comments:
- "Very nice to meet Joey, and to have a good match at Bohemians. After Joey came out storming to win the first nine points of the match, I was able to settle down a bit and we got into many long and exciting rallies. Thankfully I was able to find some consistency and pull out the match, although it was much closer than the score suggests. Thanks for the great match, Joey, and good luck with your remaining games!" -- Aleks
Player Comments:
- "Lovely to meet Peter. We had a fun afternoon match at Bohemians, with lots of long rallies. Good luck with the rest of your matches, Peter!" -- Aleks
Player Comments:
- "A fun match with Darren at the Wylam club on the astroturf. I came out with a strong start in the first set, but the second set was much more competitive, with Darren hitting many great forehand return winners. Good luck with your remaining matches, Darren!" -- Aleks
Player Comments:
- "Really fun and intense match with Will at Armstrong Park. First set was incredibly close, beginning with four consecutive breaks of serve. I served for the set at 5-4, but Will broke my serve again and we went on into an tiebreak, which I just managed to take. I tried to play more aggressive in the second set, and was able to close out the match. Thanks for the great game, Will, and good luck with your remaining matches." -- Aleks
Player Comments:
- "Really tough match against a good opponent in Monir. Managed to race to a 5-0 lead in the opening set and despite Monir breaking my serve to pull one game back I was able to see out the set. The second set was very different with Monir making each game competitive with long rallies and he managed to take a 4-2 lead. He had game point to go 5-2 up but thankfully I managed to fight back and won four very tight games in a row to win the second set and the match. Best wishes for your future games." -- Gavin
Player Comments:
- "Really nice to play Peter again. Plenty of close games and long rallies made for an enjoyable morning of tennis. Best wishes for your remaining games." -- Gavin
Player Comments:
- "A great match with Gavin, one which could have very easily gone the other way. Surprisingly warm conditions at Armstrong Park. After trading about a billion backhand (and forehand) slices, and going to deuce in almost every game, I was just able to get over the line in the end. Good match Gavin and good luck with your next games!" -- Aleks
Player Comments:
- "Fun match with plenty of long rallies which was closer than the scoreline suggested " -- Joseph
Player Comments:
- "First set started with breaking each other at the very beginning and some unreturned serves helped me save break points, holding my serve to lead the set 3-1 and the crucial game took about 15 minutes. Nick served and returned very well but I was lucky to finish the set 6-2. In the second set I could not find my first serve. Nick came with strong serves and hard hitting and was leading it 4-1. I tried to reduce unforced errors and turned it around to level the set - 4-4. Nick came with his serves even stronger with several aces. Both were holding serves and it was 5-5. Some double faults did not help Nick and I broke him and won the second set too 7-5. Many thanks, Nick for the game and hope to play you again soon. " -- Monir
Player Comments:
- "Another enjoyable match with Nick played in good spirits. Lovely morning at the Northumberland club. The match was closer than the score line suggests. I rode my luck at times and thankfully managed to win some of the big points. A good contest and hopefully we will play again." -- Gavin
Player Comments:
- "Nice to meet and play Darren again. This time I had home advantage at Gosforth Bohemians after the match at Wylam in the last league. I was more consistent throughout the match but Darren hit plenty of crunching forehand winners too which the crowd would have enjoyed (had we had a crowd!)" -- Joseph
Player Comments:
- "I have played Peter many times before and I therefore know this was not the same Peter which I have played previously and who returns relentlessly to create plenty of fun, long rallies. Peter struggled with his glasses and sight during the match unfortunately and I hope he recovers swiftly and is back to competing well on the court again soon " -- Joseph
Player Comments:
- "It was a pleasant weather condition but sudden wind caused some disruptions. I won the toss and decided to serve. Finding my serves better than expected helped me the momentum going in my favour. Peter returned well and we had long rallies that could go either way. That's how first set 6-0 is not a true reflection of games played. In the second set Peter broke. me and was leading 1-0 with 40-15 which could easily go to 2-0 lead by Peter. Unfortunately Peter was unable to continue his lead and I was lucky to break back to level the set 1-1. I was able minimise unforced errors and got the rest of the games to take it 6-1. It was great playing. Many thanks, Peter. " -- Monir
Player Comments:
- "Great game played tonight at the Northumberland Club. I took the first set fairly comfortably but in the second set Patrick made me work hard for my points and just enough consistency on my groundstrokes saw me over the line. Good luck for the remainder of your games Patrick " -- Nick
Player Comments:
- "Nick and I had a very fun, topsy turvy match, played over two days, spanning both clay and astroturf. Many drop shots, lobs, and net exchanges featured throughout. Nick came out storming to lead 5-1 in the first, taking it 6-3. The second was back and forth, and we had to pause at 4-4, but on resumption a few days later I eventually broke to take it 7-5. The third was played in very windy conditions, with me managing to close out the match 6-1. Thanks for the great match, Nick, and good luck with your next ones!" -- Aleks
Player Comments:
- "Match was played at a good pace. Monir started strong breaking my serve in the first game and then we repeated broke serve till 3-3 where I then found my rhythm on serve and then won the remaining 3 games to take the set. I then started the second set strongly, taking the first 3 games. Monir then broke back and held serve to make it 3-2. We then each held serve, we then broke each others serve again before I held serve to take the second set. Match played in good spirits and was a good opening game to the league" -- William
Player Comments:
- "My first match of the year played just over 3hrs in a sunny but windy condition that disrupted the games for both sides. There was great display of consistency from Patrick but I was able take the first set 6-3. Too many unforced errors from me in the 2nd set were inviting for Patrick to take it 6-4. Third set could go either way but luckyly some u returned serves saved my day to take it 6-4 and win the match. Many thanks Patrick for the game. Hoping to play you again soon. " -- Monir
