The Burgess Park Tennis Centre

The Southwark City Tennis League is based in the magnificent Burgess Park Tennis Centre in Burgess Hill Park, with an alternative venue available at the Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Sports Facility (see below).

The Southwark City Tennis Club

The facilities
There are seven courts in all, two Acrylic, four Macadam (two floodlit) and one practice wall.

Court charges and membership
If you play regularly at the centre, you can save money by becoming a member and paying a discounted rate for your court.

Adults - non members: £4 per hour or £6 per hour for floodlit courts
Adults - members: £2 per hour and £4 per hour for floodlit courts
Juniors - non members: £2 per hour and £3 per hour for floodlit courts
Juniors - members: 50p per hour and £1 per hour for floodlit courts
Concessions - non-members: £2 per hour and £3 per hour for floodlit courts
Concessions - members: 50p per hour and £1 per hour for floodlit courts

Membership fees
Adults: £20 per year; Juniors: £5 per year; Concessions: £5 per year; Family: £30 per year

The courts are open from 12pm to 9pm everyday of the year except public holidays.

This is another excellent tennis facility and also a base for the Southwark City Tennis Club. It has two bookable, floodlit courts.

BURGESS PARK
Named after Jessie Burgess, Camberwell's first female mayor  Burgess Park was created on land that was once occupied by housing and industry.  It is about to undergo a £6 million improvement programme, which will be completed by 2012.  A regular venue for film crews such as Spooks, every hosts the largest Latin American Festival in Europe, the Carnaval del Pueblo (www.carnavaldelpueblo.co.uk/) "the event of the year for all Latinos".
