There has been lots of fine tennis and some close matches this round! We really hope you enjoyed it.

The next round starts soon on Monday November 21 and runs until January 29.

Many thanks to all those who have already joined, and if you haven’t, but would like to, the deadline is Friday November 18. As usual players who have done well will be promoted (usually the winner of a group, butoften the runner up too when it has been close).

GROUP ONE
Winner: Franck Chesse
Franck took advantage of a quiet group to make a strong early start, and he never looked back. He finished the round with 3 wins out of 3, including a victory over defending champion Richard. Jason threatened to challenge, picking up a win to go along with the set he won against Franck, but it proved too little too late. Congratulations to Franck, and hopefully the next round will see a bit more activity!

GROUP TWO
Winner: Euan Barrie
In a frantic group, Euan emerges as group winner with a record of 4 wins from 6 matches. This included hard-fought wins over Peter and Adam, and contributed to a great points total of 16. However, this included losses to Cristian and Nick, who both finished their rounds with 2 wins out of 2. It would have been fascinating to see if they would have challenged at the top, but both were unable to play any further matches. Karolina took second place after impressive wins over Maxim and Adam, but Euan is the star of the show this time round. Well played!

GROUP THREE
Winner: Vikram Bajaj
Another really close group, and again one that shows the importance of early match scheduling! Vikram B takes the group having recorded wins, his trickiest being a close match with James. Despite this, he lost narrowly to both Mike and Vikram V, who each finished with 4 wins out of 4. Neither picked up bonus points, and so good early work from Vikram B was rewarded. These defeats should not lessen his victory, as he had a fine round throughout. Elsewhere, Caroline wrote in after a win over James:

"After much pre-match build-up and goading from both sides over several weeks, Caroline overcame a hideous amount of double faults to beat James 4-2, 5-3. Perhaps James playing matches back to back was his downfall."

GROUP FOUR
Winner: Sanjay Nandi
Sanjay won two matches to finish the round at the summit of group four, despite a narrow loss to Francisco, who won both of his matches. In a quiet group, the battle of the Suzannes was a highlight, locked at one set all before play had to stop. Well done to Sanjay on a good win, hope to see you all back next time.

GROUP FIVE
Winner: Kate Fletcher
Kate and Katya finished with identical records, having each won 3 out of 3. Unfortunately, their group decider had to be suspended with the score at 3-3 in the first set, meaning the group has to decided by bonus points. Kate picked hers up, and so she takes the group by a couple of points! Both players had excellent rounds though, and can look back with satisfaction at jobs well done. Elsewhere, Sophie finished in third after picking up a couple of wins, while Christina beat Anna in a really close match.

The winners will be receiving their £20 prizes and certificates and we do hope to welcome you all back next time. Qualifying matches will be reported to the LTA for the next ratings run (you can see more information on this on our website here.)

You get one point for every set you win (the tie break counts as a set as far as points are concerned)
Players who complete three or more matches by the mid-point of the round receive 2 bonus points, and a free can of balls which we will post to you.
