The Redbridge Tennis League: Singles Round 5
The round runs from Monday 27th June to Sunday 21st August 2011
Midway for bonus points and a FREE tube of tennis balls, Sunday 24th July 2011

 

It has been a great round, with some very close matches - countless tie-breaks and three-setters to keep things exciting! Thank you all for supporting the league. We are as ever very grateful for the hard work you put in scheduling your matches and for your efforts on court.

GROUP ONE
Winner: James Rowlatt
A thrilling race at the top concludes with James Rowlatt and James Lodge locked on 10 points, after great rounds from both. James R just takes it due to his win over James L in their match, and this capped off an impressive performance throughout from the winner. James L worked hard to claim the runner-up spot, coming from a set down to defeat Stuart and gaining sets against Kaleem and Jahanzeb. These two were closely behind the top pair with 8 points each, while defending champion Zak won his only match of the round. A really competitive group from top to bottom, peppered with three-setters and tie-breaks - congratulations to James Rowlatt on a fantastic win.

GROUP TWO
Winner: Ann Selby
Again, a tie at the top, except this group has actually managed to better group one's excitement, in that three players are tied for the lead! After consulting the rulebook, Ann is the group winner after she managed to record wins over both Ashley and Riju, her nearest challengers. Ann is a worthy winner after not dropping a set, but the chasing pair pushed her all the way. Elsewhere, Gurv had a good round and picked up 2  wins, while Rajeshri and Swadish had a great three-setter. Ann can now look forward to the challenges of group one, but future rounds will do well to top the drama of this group.
