It has been an excellent round with three quarters of all matches played - really impressive, especially given the terrible weather.
Thank you all for supporting the league. We are, as ever, very grateful for the hard work you put in scheduling your matches and for your efforts on court. Do help us grow the league if you can. There is no better thing than word of mouth to attract more players - and the more players we have, the better balanced the groups should be.
The next round starts on Monday July 23 and runs until September 16.
Many thanks to all those who have already joined, and if you haven’t, but would like to, the deadline is Friday July 20. As usual, players who have done well will be promoted (usually the winner of a group, but often the runner up too when it has been close).

Winner: Divine Tong
Divine made it two out of two, defending his title with another impressive round. He won all three of his matches, including an excellent battle with nearest rival Liem:
"It was a very windy day and it was very difficult to control the ball. Overall it was fun."
Liem won three of his own and led the group for much of the round. He capped off his round with a fine victory over Richard (again the weather proving difficult!):
"It was quite a windy day but we still had great rallies."
Martin's two wins saw him finish third in a really busy group, where all but 2 possible matches were completed. Well done again to Divine for another success, and it will be interesting to see whether he can make it three in a row next time.
Winner: Paolo Pederoda
Paolo will be joining the action in group one next time, after he picked up three wins in this round to take group two. He was convincing in his victories, and is a very worthy winner. Jose finished as runner up with two wins, one of these coming against Helen who wrote in after:
"I am pleased to advise that I was only defeated 6:3, 6:4 in today's tennis match against Nadal (aka Jose Amoros). A lovely match & Jose is a very talented natural & stylish player! At least I do now have some games on my scoreboard!"
Kevin notched a couple of late wins to move into third, and it was another competitive group throughout. Congrats to Paolo for a fine round.
The winners will be receiving their £20 prizes and certificates and we do hope to welcome you all back next time.
