THE LONDON ELITE LEAGUE

Before you get playing!
New members are welcome to join at any point, but you will need to wait till the start of the next round before you can start playing. 
There are four rounds a year of singles, so you shouldn't have to wait long.
This is a mixed singles league, (with mixed doubles also offered)
It’s divided into groups of about 6 players of a similar standard
Everyone in their group plays everyone else on Highbury Fields unless another venue suits both parties
Matches are the best of three tie break sets (allow 2 hours per match)
It’s up to everyone to arrange their own matches
You get one point for every set you win.
At the end of the round, the top one or two players go up to the next group, and the bottom one
or two go down.
You get a free can of balls and two bonus points if you complete three matches by the half way point.
Everyone who wins their group wins a bottle of champagne and one of our mighty fine certificates.

We run tennis leagues all over London, and some of our players are seriously good! If you are one of them, this new league is just for you.

Designed for exceptional players, we expect everyone in this league to have an LTA rating (or the equivalent) of 6.2 or above. This league doesn't have home courts as such - though we will be recommending courts and advising on setting up matches. This might involve a bit more travelling, but depending on the level of interest we might be able to divide it geographically, north or south, or whatever is most relevant.
There will be a men's singles league and a women's singles league; matches will count towards LTA ratings for rated players.
The league costs £12 to enter and will run like our other leagues:

  • Players arrange their own matches at a mutually convenient time over an 8 week period and book and pay for their own courts
  • Matches are the best of 3 tie break sets
  • Players earn a free can of balls for completing three matches by the mid way point.
  • The winner of the group wins receive £20 and a certificate.
  • We hope to run four rounds a year.
