Do hope you all enjoyed the last round - there has certainly been some fine tennis played! Thank you all for supporting the league. We are, as ever, very grateful for the hard work you put in scheduling your matches and for your efforts on court.

The next round starts soon on Monday November 14 and runs until January 22.

Many thanks to all those who have already joined, and if you haven’t, but would like to, the deadline is Friday November 11. As usual players who have done well will be promoted (usually the winner of a group, butoften the runner up too when it has been close).

GROUP ONE
Winner: Chris Morton
In a quiet group, one win was enough for Chris to take the title, a good win over Kaleem in his only completed match. However, Chris also picked up sets in unfinished matches against Oliver and Ovid, and this proved crucial in the outcome of the group. Kaleem and Oliver recorded wins to make a challenge for the lead, but this group never quite got going. Nevertheless, well done to Chris, and we hope to see you all back next time for a busier round!

GROUP TWO
Winner: Robert Turner
In an exciting finale, Robert managed to hold on to the lead he built up in the early stages, and even a late defeat to runner-up David couldn't prevent him from taking the group. Robert followed up excellent wins over Mariano (in three sets) and Jo with a victory over Jeremy, which he reported on:
"On a night that was more suited to kite flying than tennis, I mastered the conditions quickly and won the first set. Jeremy came storming back in the second but was unlucky to lose as I kept my nerve to serve for victory. Great match despite the conditions."
David had a fine round, and was just thwarted by his lack of bonus points - his surge of 4 wins out of 4 came late in the round. The pick of these wins was a three-setter against Jo, of which David wrote in:
"Excellent match with both of us enjoying periods of dominance - 6-2, 2-6, 6-1."
With every player winning at least one match, this was a highly competitive group. Congratulations again to Robert on a superb round.

GROUP THREE
Winner: Charlie Clinton
Charlie reigned supreme throughout group three, winning all 5 of his matches without dropping a set. He wrote in after a tricky victory over Dan:
"After a tight first set that went all the way with serve except for a break in the first game, I was able to win a bit more comfortably in the second set. Though Dan made me work for it - several games went the distance and I had to stave off more break points in the first set."
Dan finished second with three wins, while Michael and Adam had good rounds too. Nobody could stop Charlie though, and he can look forward to the challenges of a higher group next time.

GROUP FOUR
Winner: Pawel Kaminski
Pawel wins group four after 4 victories from 5 matches, including a good match with Monique:
"It was a strange day, during the match we experienced 3 of the 4 seasons (except for winter!). It was nice and sunny at the start, windy and raining in the middle, and something in between after that. Monique bravely stayed on court after a match with Dawayne earlier in the day and deserves credit for that. 6-4, 6-1."
Dawayne pushed Pawel all the way, winning all 4 of his matches - one of which was a win over the leader - but his lack of bonus points proved costly, and he was unable to complete another potentially crucial match. Both players can look back on their rounds with satisfaction, but it is Pawel who takes the prizes. Elsewhere, Zelda had a fine round, while there were wins for Ruesharn and Monique.

The winners will be receiving their £20 prizes and certificates and we do hope to welcome you all back next time. Qualifying matches will be reported to the LTA for the next ratings run (you can see more information on this on our website here.)
