Thank you again for playing in the Clapham Common Tennis League. Your support during a spell that has included some terrible weather, and has seen the bedding in of the new courts, has been really appreciated. Loads of tennis was played - some 45 matches, though unsurprisingly, given the weather, there were more unfinished matches than usual. And now the time has come to announce the winners of Round 9. But just before we do, a couple of announcements and notes about the next round!

GROUP ONE
Winner: Stefano Di Domizio
Unfinished and snow-interrupted matches played a crucial role in the top group (Stefano's "We agreed to draw the match and take one point each" was typical of the email messages  we received) but  in the end, it was Stefano who completed the most matches and grabbed the most wins. Perhaps if Steven had been able to convert his three tied matches into wins things might have been different, but as it is our well-deserved champion is Stefano!

GROUP TWO
Winner: Lito Juria
Lito is no stranger to winning groups - indeed he has won in Clapham before and in our sister league, the KB League just before Christmas. But this was a very close one! In a brilliantly competitive group where five players earned their bonus points, rival for the top spot Kaleem actually played one more match but could only equal Lito on points. In the end, it comes down to these two players' head-to-head record. Lito won that match and with it he wins the group. Well done!

GROUP THREE
Winner: Enrico Ferrero
Enrico certainly didn't have it all his way this round (Laura, who won their match emailed to say, "I had a great game againsteEnrico which lasted over 2 hours. There were some great rallies and a lot of deuces,") but his overall record was very impressive and good enough to allow him to take the group - by a single point. Commiserations to Mathew who won more matches, and to Laura who ran Enrico close (and had that head-head win) but buoyed up by earning his bonus points, this round goes to Enrico.

GROUP FOUR
Winner: Nik Lawrence
Nik and Monash fought hard for this group which was full of topsy-turvy matches and surprises. To give you an idea, Monash actually beat Nik right at the beginning of the round in a tough three-set match, but lost to Walid who Nik went on to beat. In the end though, Nik won one more match than his rival and with it the two points that wins  the group. A well deserved win from a great competitor.
