The ChristchurchTennis League: Singles Round 3
The round runs from Monday 2 May to Sunday 26 June 2011.
GROUP ONE
Winner: Brian Sheasby
A very quiet group, with only two matches being played! Harry beat Luke early on, and it seemed for a while as though that would be enough to win the group. It was a better match than the score suggested, as Harry said:
“Strong service games from myself, but very competitive rallies throughout.”
However, the defending group champion, Brian stepped up to the challenge and beat Harry, and so takes the crown once again. Hopefully it will be much busier group next time.
GROUP TWO
Winner: Simon Stewart
Group two was far more active than group one with 90% of all possible matches played - fantastic! - and Simon, Steve and William all had a good go at winning the group. In the end Simon topped the table, and deservedly so. He won all three of his matches without dropping a set, including victories over his nearest challengers. But it was only Simon who stopped Steve's winning streak, while William and Andy had possibly the closest match of the round, William just coming out on top. Hope to see you all again for the next round - and many congratulations to Simon, our new group two champ.
The mid point for bonus points and a FREE tube of tennis balls is Sunday 29 May 2011.
