Broomfield Park Singles Round Three
Round 3
Monday 11th October to Sunday 5th December 2010 (extended to 12 December)
Round 3 of the Broomfield Park Tennis League has slithered to a halt - this
slight thaw fools no one; another week and we will be swapping tennis balls for
snow balls again. The time has come to announce this round's winners....
We may have been a little down on numbers this round but despite the weather,
lots of tennis was played and four players managed to earn bonus points and
free tennis balls - which, given the weather is quite remarkable.
We really appreciate your efforts in setting up and playing matches. We hope
the tennis had been really enjoyable, but we know it takes commitment and
dedication to keep the league going and all the work you put in now should mean
the league can grow in the spring and summer. The league is still very young,
and your pioneering efforts are vital to its future.
But now, without further ado... The winners are:
GROUP ONE
Winner: Sandeep Das
Sandeep does it again... for the second round in a row, Sandeep swept the
opposition aside and powered his way to the top of the group. En route he
dropped just a handful of sets - a great performance. The chase for the
runner's up spot was much more competitive and Alicja did very well too to edge
ahead of Geoff. With only one group, the mix of standards was always going to
be a little wider than we would like, but the whole group should be
congratulated for creating such a good atmosphere for tennis. And to our
winner, we raise a glass. Well done!

New Year, filled with great tennis of course.
