Before you get playing!
New members are welcome to join at any point, but you will need to wait till the start of the next round before you can start playing. 
There are four rounds a year of singles, so you shouldn't have to wait long.
This is a mixed singles league, (with mixed doubles also offered)
It’s divided into groups of about 6 players of a similar standard
Everyone in their group plays everyone else on Highbury Fields unless another venue suits both parties
Matches are the best of three tie break sets (allow 2 hours per match)
It’s up to everyone to arrange their own matches
You get one point for every set you win.
At the end of the round, the top one or two players go up to the next group, and the bottom one
or two go down.
You get a free can of balls and two bonus points if you complete three matches by the half way point.
Everyone who wins their group wins a bottle of champagne and one of our mighty fine certificates.

Welcome to the Batchwood and St Albans Tennis League. The league is centred on the Batchwood Indoor Tennis Centre and on all of St Albans' public courts. 

The league is open to all adult players in the St Albans area of Hertfordshire. You don't have to be a member, and you may play your match on any court that suits both parties.

This league is designed to offer an easy structure to play competitive matches at a time that suits you.

How to start playing

  • It’s divided into groups of about 6 players of a similar standard. Everyone in their group plays everyone else on the Batchwood centre courts unless another venue suits both parties
  • Matches are the best of three tie break sets (allow 2 hours per match)
  • It’s up to everyone to arrange their own matches. You get one point for every set you win.
  • At the end of the round, the top one or two players go up to the next group, and the bottom one or two go down.
  • You get a FREE can of balls and two bonus points if you complete three matches by the half way point.
  • WINNERS of each group WIN £20 and one of our mighty fine certificates.
  • The entry fee for the Batchwood Tennis League is just £10

Batchwood ITC
The current round runs from MONDAY 7 JUNE TO SUNDAY 1 AUGUST 2010. 

A new round begins on Monday 30th August 2010 and runs till Sunday 24th October, 2010
